THE PROBLEM

Modern anthropology was born in reaction to colonial racism.
Its founders—Margaret Mead, Bronislaw Malinowski, and others—
set out to prove that non-Western peoples were not "savages"
who neglected their children. This was important political work.
It established a common humanity.

But it created a default narrative that has hardened into dogma:
parental love is a biological universal. If a parent does not
appear to love their child, the explanation must be poverty,
stress, cultural difference in expression, or mental illness.

This narrative is not true. It is a convenient fiction that
prevents us from seeing exploitation when it is dressed in
diapers and called "family."

The field is also institutionally captured. It cannot name the
extraction family. It cannot name the addiction economy. It
cannot distinguish between "odd" and "bad." It treats "strong
family ties" as a cultural quirk rather than a structural
advantage. It is full of shit.

THE CORRECT FRAMEWORK

A functioning anthropology starts from first principles:

1. HUMANS ARE MAMMALS.
   They have evolved hardware. They are not blank slates.
   The hardware includes dominance, competition, tribalism,
   and the capacity for subjugation. The hardware also
   includes the capacity for cooperation, empathy, and
   care. The hardware is not the problem. The installation
   is the problem.

2. CHILDHOOD IS THE INSTALLATION WINDOW.
   What happens before age six determines what runs for life.
   The tribe boundary is set in this window. The capacity
   for empathy is developed in this window. The pledge is
   installed in this window—or it is not.

3. THE FAMILY IS THE PRIMARY INSTITUTION.
   The extended family is the infrastructure that produces
   stable children. The alloparenting network is the
   mechanism by which the tribe is expanded. The domestic
   role is load-bearing. It cannot be replaced by the state
   without collapse.

4. LOVE IS NOT A FEELING.
   Love is a specific structural relationship between two
   people. It requires: consideration of the other's wellbeing
   as separate from your own; skin in the game on both sides;
   and the right to refuse without destruction. Most parents
   fail this test. The anthropological assumption of universal
   parental love is not true.

5. ODD IS NOT BAD.
   Different is not worse. The West has lost the alloparenting
   network. The West has lost the extended family. The West
   has lost the consistent caregivers. The West has lost the
   human scale. The Philippines still has these things. The
   Philippines looks odd to the West. That is fine. "Odd" is
   not "bad."

THE METHOD

The new anthropology uses the following method:

1. OBSERVE WITHOUT FRAMEWORKS.
   Do not import Western frameworks. Do not assume the West
   is the benchmark. Do not assume "lack" when you see
   "different." Watch. Document. Understand.

2. DISTINGUISH ODD FROM BAD.
   Some things are odd. They are fine. Some things are bad.
   They need fixing. The extraction family is bad. The
   addiction economy is bad. The land trap is bad. The
   tricycle is odd. The yaya is odd. The extended family
   is odd to the West—and it is also the reason the
   Philippines is still a society.

3. ASK: IS IT WORKING?
   Does the society produce stable children? Are the families
   intact? Are the children fed? Is the community present?
   If the answer is yes, the system is working. Do not change
   it just because it looks odd.

4. ASK: WHAT WOULD BE LOST?
   Before changing anything, ask: what would be lost if this
   were replaced? The answer is often: the alloparenting network.
   The consistent caregivers. The human scale. The checks.
   Do not replace what is working with what is broken.

5. USE THE WORKING MODEL.
   The Philippines is a working model. Use it to diagnose
   what the West has lost. Use it to recover what the West
   has lost. Use it to prevent the Philippines from losing
   what it has.

THE REJECTION

The current anthropological establishment is not just wrong.
It is actively harmful.

It treats the extraction family as "strong family ties." It
treats the addiction economy as "poverty." It treats the
alloparenting network as "backwardness." It treats the human
scale as "underdevelopment."

It cannot see what is actually there because it is committed
to a framework that prevents it from seeing.

It must be rejected. It must be replaced. The new anthropology
must be built from first principles.

THE APPLICABILITY

This framework is not just for the Philippines.

It applies to any society that still has the alloparenting
network. It applies to any society that has not yet been
fully captured by the machine. It applies to any society
that is being told it needs "development" when what it
actually needs is defence.

The framework is universal. The principles are universal.
The method is universal.
